Hair Transplant / FUT Hair Transplant

What is FUT Hair Transplant?

Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) is a process in which the whole chunks of hair (a full strip) are removed from the donor area (back of the head) and transplanted to the bald area of the scalp. This technique is useful in the cases of advance hair loss, where the patients require large number of grafting in single session.

How FUT Procedure takes place?

  • The process is done under local anesthesia; so that the patients do not suffer from major pain & discomfort.
  • After giving local anesthesia to the patient, the surgeons remove a small strip of tissue from the donor area.
  • The multiple individual follicular units are then harvested from the strip by using microscopic dissection techniques.
  • After the preparation of follicular unit grafts, doctors make tiny holes in the recipient area, where the grafts are implanted. These grafts contain anywhere between 1-5 hair units.
  • The positioning and arrangement of follicular units is pre-determined, depending upon the patient’s history of hair and his surgical requirements.
  • The donor area, from where the strip is taken, is stitched carefully due to which a linear scar occurs.
